PlayersFriday 1st and Saturday 2nd April 2011
This year the Plaxtol Players tried their hands at a Ray Clooney script, "It Runs in the Family" which is a medical farce set in the early 1980's. As ever, nerves were fraught throughout rehearsals, with many performers concerned that they would never remember their lines. However, as is usual, the seemingly disastrous final dress rehearsal was followed by a wonderful perfomance all round. It was particularly pleasing to hear such comments as "best ever", "a real hoot", "they get better every year" and "let me out" over the course of the two nights. If you missed the show, or wish to be remembered of it (why on earth....) then

In order to begin promoting our April production, "Its in the Family" which is a comedy based on a medical theme, we held a quiz night on Saturday 5th February at the village hall.
It proved to be a very enjoyable evening, many people turned up in various costumes and there were some clever variations; including Doctor Who and the winner of the individual fancy dress award: Andy Gray! For those not in tune with recent news, Tom Hogg arrived with a football linesman's flag "pierced" through his head accompanied by "blood" soaked bandages - a great effort Tom.
The questions were well received by all as a mixture of impossible, those that made you think, some where you could have a reasonable guess, and a few which were easy enough for everyone to answer, fairly confidently! A word of thanks to Carole & Gerry Howlett for not only putting the questions together, assisted by Martyn 'Willy Willams', but for holding centre stage all night as question masters. Thanks also of course to everyone who turned up and supported the event, we hope you enjoyed it and that we'll see you at future events.
